Purple adds the perfect amount of punch to a room.

Decorating in Palm Beach

Bought a wonderful condo on Ibis Isle in Palm Beach.  Great water views from every room and a white palette ready to decorate.  Wouldn't dare decorate in a traditional style.... I like that fresh beachy open look which tends to look soft with white and grey and accents of red tones and blues or greens.  Minimalist is my choice this time.  Found many great pieces of furniture on Dixie Hwy. at Mecox Garden and Palm Beach Design Center.  The design center has a large mix of art deco and mid century furniture and accessories.  Found a very beautiful and simple art deco mirror for the dining room.  Spent many days walking up and down Dixie browsing the many shops and galleries.  Looking forward to returning next week for the Palm Beach Art show.  Stay tuned for some new finds.

A shopping trip to SoHo

Currently working on a few modern spaces and decided to visit Tui Lifestyles in SoHo.  The store is new and is the best place to see the latest modern furniture that has just been designed by Tui Pranich...formerly of the same showroom at the NYC D&D building.  One of the great things is their quick ship program.  I especially liked the white leather and stainless steel sleep sofa.  It has an unusual look with  quilted back pillows....sleek and comfortable at the same time.  Greene Street has other great stores with a modern  look such as B&B Italia.  They also have a showroom uptown in the A&D building. I'll add  photos shortly of some of my favorite pieces.

Antiquing in West Palm Beach, Fl

Just returned from  Palm Beach.  Enjoyed antiquing on Dixie Hwy... so many shops for all budgets.  It's so easy to walk from one to the other.  Loved the mid century antiques.  Found some  antique jewelry too.  Speaking of antiques...had dinner at City Diner on Dixie Hwy and George Hamilton was there with his young son....he still looks good!

Drove down to Miami and found Tui Pranich's lifestyles store in the design district.  He has that Miami Modern look for reasonable prices.  Has a catalog online too.

Why white rooms -- as so often asked by my clients.

White opens up space thereby giving it a larger appearance.  Painting walls, ceilings and trim various shades of white allows you to differentiate the details of the moldings, and/or built in cabinetry and it is especially important to use various paint finishes such as flat on walls and ceilings with semi-gloss on trim.  See picture as an example:
